Ar-rahman, Ar-Rahim, Al-Karim

As far as I can remember, not once have I copied from somewhere else and pasted it on my blog. But it seems that this one is worth sharing so I wrote back the contents of a talk given by Maulana Tariq Jameel. I don’t really know if anyone ever reads from this blog anymore but I won’t lose a penny if I share this. So, for those who do read it I assure you it’ll be worth your while.

Listen to the words of The Qur’an. These are not my words; it is the prose of The Qur’an. فاين تذهبون؟  (Where are you going?)”.
There is such love in these words. It’s like when a mother becomes helpless or dejected due to her child going astray and she asks him, “What are you doing, O my beloved son?”  The words are “what are you doing?” but there is such pain of motherhood which is hidden inside these words or when a father becomes helpless or dejected and says, “What are you doing, O my beloved son?” there is such compassion of the father in these words because he knows what his son is doing will cause him harm in the future. At that point he becomes helpless and says, “What are you doing, O my beloved son?” “Where are you going?”

So, we can narrate the words but not the depth of the emotion which comes with it. That has no translation. There is no translation of emotions, instead they are felt. Due to Arabic not being our mother tongue, we don’t understand when Allah speaks to us and the intensity of His love that comes with it when he says: “يا ايهالانسان (O mankind)”. Not just for the Muslims but the love which Allah expresses to the 7 billion inhabitants of this world when he says, : “يا ايهالانسان (O mankind)” It is almost like Allah has come upon the earth and goes to each individual shaking him and saying, “What are you doing?” “يا ايها الانسان ماغرك بربك الكريم (O My creation, I am your Lord, why have you left Me?”

It’s normal in the west for children to abandon their parents but in our areas it is less. When it does happen the parents say “Why are you going?” the pain which is hidden in that ‘why’, “Where are you going?” the pain hidden in that sentence, “What are you doing?” the pain hidden in those words, that is of a mother and father. If we use this analogy with Allah, all the while understanding that Allah’s love is infinite and then try to understand the verse, “يا ايها الانسان ماغرك بربك الكريم (O My creation, I am your Lord, why have you left Me? Who has deceived you?” I am your Lord, I am your Lord. Who has deceived you? Why have you left Me? “الذى خلقك فسواك فعدلك (I created you, proportioned you, and balanced you)”

Look at your appearance in the mirror and see how I have created you. Can I wrong you? A mother does not wrong her child even though she is just a medium for the baby before the baby is delivered, yet Allah have created you with His hands, can he wrong you?

If Allah stops you from something then there is some wisdom behind it and if Allah tells you to do something then there is benefit in it for you. Allah says, “فاين تذهبون؟  (Where are you going?)”. By leaving Allah can one find shelter anywhere else? Allah says, “ففروا الى الله (Come towards Me)”.

The Present, the Future and In Between.

There are a few things that are for sure in this world. Death is sure, heaven and hell are sure, judgment day is for sure and a few others but there are plenty other things that we don’t know for certain. For example, we don’t know if we’ll ever see tomorrow or the next few hours or the next few minutes or a few seconds after this. So, why do we, human, plan as though we’re definitely sure of what’s going to happen next.

My English teacher once said, ‘Don’t take things for granted”. Can’t agree with her more I guess. Normally, as in most of the time, we get too comfortable with ‘happy times’. Like when we’re doing well at something, we have the feeling that we’ll always be great without any dip in form. Life’s not that way. It’s like what people say, life is like a wheel. Sometimes we’re on top and sometimes we’re down below. Making someone or some other party as our scapegoat isn’t really the best way to deal with the down-the-wheel period. After all, only losers make excuses.

As far as I know, people often learn from failures more than they could ever benefit from success. So, instead of pointing fingers, why not we look in the mirror and ask ourselves where did we do wrong. Simplest example, if we (in this case: I) don’t get mumtaz(excellent), why didn’t I try harder? Why didn’t I spend more time on my studies rather than wasting my time on numerous futile matters? Maybe, just maybe, the question was too hard or the professors were too strict (stingy) or the University purposely don’t want us to pass the exam so that we’ll have to repeat the year and pay a year more fees but why not we blame ourselves on not making those difficult questions easy for ourselves? Why did we give the professors to utilize that strictness? People will try hard to bring us down, don’t give them the opportunity to do so.

We got to prepare ourselves mentally and physically just in case we face failures. No one stays at the top forever. Just look at how Libya’s and Egypt’s dictators, after 40 odd years, the former, and 30 plus years, the latter, they were eventually ousted. We can’t expect life to be easy all the way. Troubles and problems will stand in our way to success and if we stop just because of one tiny barrier then we’ll never know what might’ve awaited us behind that barrier. Dreams are beautiful but life…? Well, not so much but life is true and dreams are just dreams unless you, I mean we, try to turn it into a bright future.

Speaking about future, many of us regards a good future as a life with lots of money or living happily with our future wife and kids, or being a leader of certain nation or at least a big business company. Well let’s ask ourselves one simple question. If we try so hard, day and night 24/7 studying for exams or working to earn some amount of money or having a beautiful wife to build a happy family for a life aged 60-70 years give or take, how much effort do we put on an eternity life? A life without death when you either go to this blessed place or that cursed place. If we can sacrifice our break time for work, why can’t we take a few minutes from our work time for our daily prayers so that we could pray right on time and not at the eleventh hour? If we can spend the whole night reading books without sleeping just for the sake of getting good results in our examination, why can’t we wake up a few minutes before fajar for tahajud?

P/S: I’m about to enter my third year as a medical student. Simple task for you, PRAY FOR MY SUCCESS ^_^

~Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery,

If we don’t remember Allah the Almighty, our life will be in misery. ~

Sonnet 1

The sky is blue, the sea is too,

He is The Creator of me and you.

Life’s a surprise, life is short,

You want paradise? Obey your Lord.

Always remember Him even when you’re at the helm,

Fulfill His orders without even thinking of questioning them.

When He calls for daily prayers, don’t say you won’t,

Because He can see us, even when others don’t.

We’re happy or sad, we’re frustrated or glad,

He understands us better than our dad.

So, why ignore Him when he never fails to remember us?

Recite the Quran and the Dhikr even when we’re on the bus.

He told us that our enemy is syaitan,

So why follow him? Haven’t we read the Quran?

He sent us Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as our guidance,

So why are we not following his (peace be upon him) footsteps? Isn’t that nonsense?

This poem is for me and you,

But reading the Quran is a better thing for you to do.

Bila Cinta Kini Tak Lagi Bermakna

Aku melalui tembok-tembok bandar Laila,
Aku mencium tembok ini dan mencium tembok itu,
Bukan cinta Bandar itu yang mengasyikkan hatiku,
Tapi cinta si dia yang mendiami Bandar itu.

Assalamualaikum WRB.
Wassup guys? The Prince is back. It’s been a long while since my last post. Was I busy? Not really. Maybe just not in the mood to write. So, let’s just go straight to the topic should we.
Not exactly right if you guys think I’m gonna write about love between girls and boys but still it is about love. See, almost a month ago we were celebrating Maulidur Rasul which coincidently was just a day after the so called Valentine’s Day this year. Hopefully all of us remember the Prophet’s birthday more than the other worthless celebration. Coz that’s the way it should be. Come on, do you even know who or why this Valentine’s Day is celebrated. I’m not gonna talk about Valentine’s Day though coz I don’t really think I’m the appropriate person to talk about it. Perhaps you should ask someone who’s more knowledgeable than me regarding this matter.

See, we all Muslims pathetically admit that we love our prophet. Mark my words, ‘pathetically’. Again, PATHETICALLY.  Why? Ask ourself. How do we prove that we love him (PBUH)? Just by marching along Dataran Putra on Maulidur Rasul once a year? As far as I know, that’s not the way. To prove that we love our prophet is by practicing his sunnah.  How on earth can we love someone if we don’t like the way he dresses, the way he eats, the way he lives? Wearing a jubbah is one of his sunnah yet we have that thought in our mind that the jubbah is so yesterday. Istighfar my friend. Most of us even think that eating with our bare hand will make it dirty. Think carefully before you say something, mate. How could something that the person we love do, we call it dirty? Even worse, when we miss some of his sunnahs such as solat sunnat rawatib(qobliah/ba’diah), the very first word that comes out from our mouth is, “xpe, sunnah je”. “SUNNAH JE” that phrase pretty much shows how much we look up towards our prophet. Come on, SUNNAH JE? Does that mean we think our prophet’s sunnahs are nothing? That it’s not important?

True that it’s not wajib but keep this in mind folks, when Munkar and Nakir asks us, “Who’s your prophet?” How could we possibly answer it if we don’t practice his sunnahs? We can’t lie there like we could here coz there, only our deeds will answer for us. Even in Mahsyar  we’ll drink  water from Telaga Kauthar from the prophet’s holy hand. So, how could he(PBUH) recognize us if we don’t live the way he does? How should he know if we’re his(PBUH) ummat?

This post is quite short coz I don’t think people would like to waste their precious time reading a long post especially when it’s about something like this. Besides, what’s the point in writing a long post if no one understands it? Just to make my point clear, what I’m trying to say is even at our prophet’s last breath he still said, “ummati, ummati”. His love for us is clearly obvious, so why are we so arrogant to show our love towards him? Think about it.

Al-Ahzab (33):21
